Meli Frozen Yogurt has incredible toppings

• It offers about a dozen toppings, ranging from fresh fruit and granola to a Dubai pistachio spread (which definitely isn't sugar free but very delicious).
• There's also a handful of "sauces" patrons can drizzle on top, like a creamy peanut butter, white chocolate matcha or condensed milk.

The vibe: Very cute. The blue-and-white checkered flooring, arched walkways and the window seating nook make the small space seem more spacious and inviting.

What we ordered: I went with my brother and nephew, and we each ordered the tart froyo.

• I topped my 8oz cup with chocolate chips, strawberries, a cherry pomegranate jam and crushed pistachios ($10).
• My brother and nephew got parfaits with the Dubai spread, plus granola and honey, respectively ($12-$13).

Brugal family review: It was refreshing and enjoyable, but the consistency of the froyo seemed more like really cold yogurt, less froyo (aka, more of a healthy snack, less of a sweet treat).

• The word I used was "whipped," which isn't necessarily good or bad, just different than the consistency I was expecting.
• Still, we agreed the toppings were excellent and different than traditional offerings (looking at you, cherry pomegranate jam!).
