These 11 Miami restaurants were ranked among the nation's top indies

It's been a brutal couple of years for Miami's restaurant scene, but a new ranking finds that the Magic City is still a leader in independent dining.

Why it matters: The annual Top 100 Independents list from Restaurant Business spotlights the top-grossing U.S. indies and finds Miami among other national leaders like Chicago, New York and Las Vegas.

Zoom in: 11 Miami or Miami Beach spots made the top 100. Here are the local honorees and where they ranked:

MILA (No. 1! With over $51 million in sales last year)
Joe's Stone Crab (No. 3, $47.6 million)
Rusty Pelican Miami (No. 21, $24.1 million)
Komodo Miami (No. 26)
Casadonna (No. 27)
Mayami (No. 29)
Delilah Miami (No. 38)
Pastis MIA (No. 45)
Gekko Miami (No. 52)
Papi Steak Miami (No. 64)
Bayshore Club (No. 83)

How it works: The ranking considers restaurants independent if they have no more than five locations.

The rankings are based on 2024 gross food and beverage sales, determined through surveys and estimates from public data and similar concepts, among other factors.

The intrigue: Mayami, the Wynwood hotspot, had the priciest average check in Restaurant Business's roundup — $286.
