Some of the best things to see this Miami Art Week won't cost you a penny.
Why it matters: Miami's free public installations, like last year's life-sized elephant sculptures, are just as memorable as the pieces inside the ticketed fairs.
Here's a sampling of some public art events and exhibits to check out:
🥖 Bakehouse Art Complex hosts a free open studio and brunch event where you can meet local artists and have a bite to eat.
- While you're there, check out its new exhibition, "Bakehouse at Forty: Past, Present, Future."
- Dec. 4, 9am–noon.
- RSVP strongly encouraged.
🔑 No Vacancy Miami Beach: Twelve hotels around Miami Beach are participating in the annual art competition, which turns lobbies and other spaces into free pop-up art exhibits. (See who's participating)
- Runs through Dec. 20.
🏎️ The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club will debut two art installations and a live sculpture activation.
- "Wish You Were Here," Denise Treizman's large-scale sunset tapestry made largely from pool noodles, will be on display in the pool area through Dec. 20 as part of No Vacancy.
- Artist Hira Majeed will present works at the hotel Dec. 1-7.
- Majeed will also hand-paint a life-size sculpture of a Cadillac Formula 1 car on the hotel's front porch. (Begins at noon on Dec. 2.)
🎨 The Littlest Art Fair: Miami artist Krave (real name Daniel Fila), owner of Little Havana art space El Fresco, is spearheading a new four-day mural festival Dec. 2-7 that seeks to highlight local talent.
- Expect live mural installations, artist panels, music and educational tours.
- The festivities kick off Dec. 2 at El Fresco, which will host a micro-art fair, live activations and performances from 7-11pm. Free with RSVP.
- There will be a live art showdown at 7pm on Dec. 6 between Los Angeles and Miami artists at 1560 Tamiami Trail. Free with RSVP.
- On Dec. 7, from noon-2pm, there will be a walking tour and studio meet-and-greet with local artists beginning at El Fresco. The day will culminate with a pool party at InTown Apartments from noon-5pm.

📚 Faena Hotel Miami Beach: Faena Art will unveil "Library of Us," a revolving sculptural library installation by Es Devlin featuring 2,500 books.
- The illuminated 50-foot-wide bookshelf rotates within a reflecting pool surrounded by a 70-foot-wide communal reading table, where viewers can read artist-selected works as their seats revolve around one another.
- The presentation continues with another installation, "Reading Room," inside the Faena Cathedral, as well as a series of smaller drawings and painted-glass works in the Faena Project Room.
- Dec. 2-7, 1-9pm.
💧1 Hotel South Beach: BREAKFAST, a kinetic and data artist whose work appeared at Art Miami last year, is bringing his talents back to South Beach.
- "Consumption," a gold-and-marble archway sculpture that was at Art Miami in 2024, is programmed to move based on local water-consumption data and when it detects a person walking through it.
- BREAKFAST is also presenting the pieces "Carbon Wake," "Arctic Ice" and "Water 80."
- "Carbon Wake" and "Consumption" will activate the hotel's façade and beachside at Tala Beach from Dec. 2–8.
- "Arctic Ice," "Water 80," and a new climate-focused series will remain on view in the hotel's lobby through Jan. 5.

🎨 Lincoln Road: The South Beach open-air mall will feature 14 public art installations, including French artist Philippe Katerine's oversized "Mr. Pink Takes Flight" inflatables.
- Five of the hot-pink cartoon characters peer down at visitors from Lincoln Road rooftops, while one is viewable from the street. They each measure between 12 and 20 feet tall.
- The installations will be on view through April 2026.
- Lincoln Road will also feature Miami-based artist Oscar Esteban Martinez's "La Herencia Viva," a sculpture of a human face crafted from puzzle pieces and mirrored panels.
