Sommer here! Mayfair Grill at the iconic Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is perfect for an intimate date night or a celebratory meal.
Dig in: The classic Coconut Grove establishment isn't new — the hotel reopened in 2022 after renovations — but the menu is.
- Giorgio Rapicavoli, the Mayfair's new chef, was behind Eating House and Luca Osteria.
State of sip: My sister-in-law Elyse and I had our own date night recently. Upon arrival, we felt comfortable in the cozy indoor environment and ordered cocktails.
- The list was a bit too ambitious for me (the Bananavardier mixes bourbon, vermouth, campari and a banana liqueur), but my mezcal negroni was tasty.

What we ordered: We started with the yellowfin tuna crudo ($22). The light dish was a perfect starter with a touch of acidity and an almost buttery texture.
- Next was the jalapeño pesto ($33). Surprisingly, the pasta dish doesn't have the heat you'd expect from the 'peños. The stracciatella offers a nice creaminess.
- We also ordered the skirt steak ($39) and the yuca tostones side ($10). The tostones came with a cilantro salsa verde — a bit too liquidy for me, but Elyse liked it.

The MVP: The sweet corn churros ($14).
- I prefer savory to sweet, so I'm just as shocked by our decision. But these babies are stuffed with a bit of goat cheese, drizzled with a brown butter caramel and served with salted vanilla ice cream.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal and the ambiance was ideal.
What's next: The staff recommended a few dishes, like the clams and Iberico pork "churrasco," so we agreed we'd be back to try those.
- They also applauded the cheeseburger. I have strong feelings about Miami's best burger, so I will definitely be back to try this one.
