Jaguar Sun to close. Team will focus on Sunny's Steakhouse

The big picture: The announcement follows a string of other closures in Miami.

• Last week, popular brewery J Wakefield Brewing announced its closure after nearly a decade in business, becoming the fourth brewery to close so far this year.

The good news: The duo behind Jaguar Sun is set to open a permanent version of Sunny's Steakhouse, a pop-up favorite during the pandemic, this fall in Little River.

• Many of Jaguar Sun's popular dishes will be available at Sunny's.

What they're saying: "Until recently, we thought we could keep Jag up and running while we opened Sunny's, but to do this work [...] we need our team and our culture intact," the team wrote in an Instagram post announcing the closure.

• "It would be a disservice to the new space to open with half of our team, and it would be even worse to try and keep downtown going with a whole new gang."

Bottom line: Jaguar Sun fans were quick to express their love, sadness and gratitude for the restaurant online.

• One wrote the "downtown Jaguar" will be missed, but added, "Jaguar Sun is the people and culture, not a physical space. Sunny's will be amazing."
