Miami's unemployment rate increases slightly, trails national rate

The Miami metro area's unemployment rate rose slightly from May to June, continuing a small but steady increase since March 2023.
By the numbers: June's unemployment was 2.8%, a .1% increase from the previous month, and a .4% increase compared to the same time last year.
- In June 2021, it was 5.2%. The unemployment rate has fallen from nearly 7% that January.
Zoom out: Nationally, the unemployment rate in June was 4.1%.
- The U.S. economy added 114,000 jobs in July, while the unemployment rate rose to 4.3%, the Labor Department said on Friday.
