Miami rockers Jacuzzi Boys are playing a free show at the Miami Beach Bandshell tonight, so we caught up with the band to ask them about their perfect day in the 305.
๐ Meet the band: Guitarist/vocalist Gabriel Alcala and drummer Diego Monasterios are originally from Venezuela and live in North Miami.
- Bassist Danny Gonzalez is a Miami native and lives in Silver Bluff.
๐พ Morning activity: Danny: "I took up tennis a few months ago, so lately I'll meet some friends at a public court or just hit against a wall for a bit by myself."
- Diego: "Usually, I wake up and go for a bike ride to the beach & hang out there for a few hours."
- Gabriel: "Wake up & hang out with my 10 month old while I drink coffee & listen to jazz."
โ๏ธ Breakfast: Danny: "I like hitting one of the various Cuban style cafeterias near me for some pastries and coffee. Mary's Coin Laundry is a regular one these days. Bagel Bar East is also a popular spot for us as a band. It's become a bit of a pre-practice routine."
- Gabriel: "Caracas Bakery has a pretty good breakfast."
- Diego: "I like going to Enriquetas in the morningโฆ grabbing a cortadito and a couple of croquetas."
๐ฅ Lunch: Danny: "I like The Last Carrot for a chicken pita and a juice. It's one of the few places in the Grove that's remained a constant."
- Gabriel: "Sushi Erika is fantastic."
๐ธ Afternoon activity: Danny: "Playing guitar on the couch is a nice way to spend some time. Wish I could do that more often."
๐ฑ Evening activity: Danny: "Watching some sorta cheap thriller at home while eating some Chinese takeout. Also watering my plants while listening to whatever my current audiobook is."
๐ Dinner: Danny: "I've been to Jaguar Sun a few times and it's always delicious. Can't go wrong with a martini (or two), some Parker House rolls, and the crab agnolotti."
- Gabriel: "Su Shin Izakaya in the Gables is always really fun."
- Diego: "A place I like to go to is Fiorito. It's actually right next to Churchill's [Pub], so we used to hit it up before shows when Churchill's was still around."
๐ต RSVP here for the 8pm show, which will feature an opening DJ set by Rat Bastard, and immersive visuals by artist Kevin Arrow.
