Denver's first PorchFest takes over Baker this weekend

By the numbers: The free, volunteer-run festival features 192 local artists performing across 80-plus porches, lawns, driveways, garages and more.

• Organizers tell us attendance could reach 20,000 people.

State of play: Unlike some PorchFests in other cities that organize performances into genre-specific zones, Denver's version is mixing things up.

• Spokesperson James Richard Lane describes it as a "multicultural discovery festival," with different sounds spread throughout the neighborhood to encourage people to stumble onto something new.

Zoom in: Dailey Park (1 S. Cherokee St.) will serve as the festival's hub, with food trucks, a beer garden and local arts and crafts vendors.

• Cookie Factory (425 W. 4th Ave.) will also host vendors, food and drinks, plus live performances.

The big picture: Organizers hope all that wandering pays dividends beyond the porches.

• Lane says the festival is designed in part to generate foot traffic for local businesses.

If you go: PorchFest runs from noon-7pm Saturday. It's free (though donations are encouraged) and open to all ages.

• Several streets will be closed, and portable restrooms will be available.
• Organizers recommend downloading the Denver PorchFest app to navigate closures and plan your musical crawl.
• Leashed pets are welcome. Chairs are, too.

Yes, and: The party continues Sunday morning with a neighborhood cleanup from 9am-noon.

• Snooze will serve volunteers breakfast at 9am before a final neighborhood sweep starts at 10am. RSVP.
