Colorado set to collect $615M from Meta settlement

Zoom in: The 47-state settlement will resolve claims against the company and bring Colorado roughly $615 million over nine years, Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a statement.

• The money will go toward "protecting and restoring" mental health and safety for Colorado kids.

What they're saying: "The relief we are getting in this settlement is very meaningful and well beyond what any court has ordered or is likely to order," Weiser said.

Caveat: The agreement is subject to court approval.

Driving the news: Meta agreed to provide compensation for a variety of public health purposes, including crisis intervention, after-school programs, outdoor activities and youth mental health programming.

• Meta also agreed to limited under-18 users to 2 hours per day on Facebook and Instagram, block them from accessing the platforms from midnight to 6am, and limit notifications during school hours.
• Young people will also be given the option to have a chronological feed, not an algorithmic one — and parents can make it the default option.
• Kids also won't be able to see likes or other post reactions.
