The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is ready to reveal its $20 million makeover.
The big picture: Renovations to the Sturm Family Wing, which began in April 2025, transformed the space's theater, lobby and plaza. It opens to the public on Sept. 1.
Zoom in: The revamped plaza adds flexible outdoor space for gatherings, events and performances, plus infrastructure for year-round use.
- The new lobby improves access to the Sturm Infinity Theater and doubles as a private event space.
- Accessibility upgrades include new ramps, improved elevator service and a sidewalk connecting nearby neighborhoods and bus riders to the museum.
Flashback: The project was funded by a gift from the locally based Sturm Family Foundation — the largest private donation in the museum's history.
What's next: The museum will celebrate with a free grand opening from 4-9pm Sept. 1, with free admission all evening and no registration required.
