Award-winning Denver chef crafts United Airlines bites

Celebrated Denver chef Penelope Wong is taking her talents to the skies through a new partnership with United Airlines.

Why it matters: The deal gives business-class flyers out of DIA a chance to sample her acclaimed cuisine, including her famous dumplings.

State of play: Wong, crowned in June with a James Beard Award for Best Chef in the region, debuted onboard meals on the airline this month as part of "Chef's Table," the brand behind the Netflix documentary series.

She's one of 11 chefs tapped to craft menus in United's hub cities like Denver.

Dig in: Her menu includes three courses:

Shokupan bread with smoked trout, lemongrass, Chinese celery and trout roe as an appetizer.
A kale salad with fresh cherries, golden beets, grana Padano cheese and honey ginger vinaigrette.
And an entree of five-spice duck wontons in a duck-based broth, Swiss chard and chili oil.

If you go: The menu items are available from Denver on international business-class flights to Rome, London, Frankfurt, Munich and Tokyo-Narita through October.
