The hardest Denver bagel to get your hands on right now may be at Milly's Bagels, a tiny new shop on Pearl Street in West Wash Park.
Why it matters: There are few bad days a great bagel can't make at least a little better.
The big picture: Milly's, which specializes in sourdough bagels, held its grand opening over the weekend and has drawn lines out the door ever since.
- So far, the shop has sold out daily, staff say. By 10:42am Wednesday, just five bagels remained — all plain. By 10:54am, they were gone.

Between the lines: Location may be at play. Wash Park has no shortage of coffee shops, but until now it lacked a dedicated bagel shop.
Zoom in: Founder Milly Lorden, a St. Louis native, ran the business from her home and at farmers markets for roughly a year before opening the Wash Park storefront, BusinessDen reports.
- As a nod to her roots, customers can order bagels "St. Louis style," — sliced into strips for dipping into whipped cream cheese flavors like scallion and brown sugar raspberry.
- "It's kind of controversial," she told the Denver Post. "But it's been really popular with catering orders because that's a phenomenal way to share orders."
My thought bubble: I ordered the $12 Lenny's Lover with egg, cheddar, avocado and the shop's "famous" chili aioli. (It comes with bacon, but I skipped it.)
- With only plain bagels left, I didn't quite get the full Milly's experience.
- The sandwich was definitely tasty — I finished every bite — but after waiting 30 minutes in line, I found myself wondering whether the hype and payoff were perfectly aligned.
If you go: Arrive early, and be prepared to stand in line. Then tell us: Was it worth the wait?
- Milly's is located at 712½ S. Pearl St. It's open 8am-1pm (or until sellout) Tuesday-Sunday. Don't miss the patio tucked out back.
