Nuggets' Jamal Murray earns first-career All-Star selection

The NBA on Sunday confirmed what many Denver Nuggets fans have long suspected: Jamal Murray is an All-Star.

State of play: Denver's starting point guard earned his first All-Star selection after putting up career-high numbers this season, averaging 25.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.

Why it matters: Murray's inclusion means MVP candidate Nikola Jokić officially has an All-Star teammate for the first time in his illustrious career.

This is the first time Denver will have two teammates selected for the All-Star game since Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups in 2010.

Zoom out: Historically, the Nuggets struggled when Jokić wasn't on the court, underscoring how rare it's been for him to have elite support.

Between the lines: Jokić, who earned his 8th consecutive All-Star selection, was named a Western Conference starter last month.

How it works: Picks are selected based on voting from three groups, including fans (50%), NBA players (25%) and media (25%).

Between the lines: Murray could join his Serbian teammate during the new All-Star game format, which involves a U.S. vs. World-style matchup.

Two U.S. teams will face one World team in a round-robin tournament with four, 12-minute games.

What's next: Los Angeles hosts the 2026 NBA All-Star game on Feb. 15.
