Broncos' season ends in snowy loss to Patriots

Why it matters: It was a snowy, nightmarish ending to a fairytale season for Denver.

State of play: Quarterback Jarrett Stidham entered the game with the fewest starts in a championship game in 56 years, in place of injured starter Bo Nix.

• The offense looked anemic under Stidham, unable to get anything going during the second half after a hot start.
• Stidham's interception in the fourth quarter put a dagger in Denver's comeback chances.

Meanwhile, the Broncos' elite defense was unable to make any pivotal plays.

• Five sacks weren't enough to change the game's eventual trajectory.

Between the lines: The Pats secured their first postseason win in the Mile High City, ending Denver's playoff dominance over the New England team in Denver, as New England was 0-4 prior to Sunday's victory.

What's next: Six Broncos players are scheduled to participate in the Pro Bowl Games Feb. 3.
