One of Denver's hidden gems will host a drink deal for the ages Friday.
The big picture: The Cruise Room — the tony Art Deco bar inside the historic Oxford Hotel downtown — is celebrating Repeal Day, marking the end of Prohibition, with 35-cent cocktails (yes, you read that right).
Flashback: The event is a nod to the Cruise Room's rich history.
- It opened Dec. 6, 1933, a day after President Franklin D. Roosevelt repealed the Eighteenth Amendment prohibiting alcohol in the U.S.
Dig in: Visitors can grab their first cocktails at the red-lit sipping spot for 35 cents from 4-5pm Friday.
- Options include an old fashioned, a Manhattan, Tom Collins or classic martini.
The vibe: The bar and hotel will host a Gatsby-style bash, burlesque entertainment and live jazz.
If you go: Jazz inside the hotel lobby runs from 5-7pm, with dancing to follow. Guests can party like they're in West Egg from 9pm to close.
