This time of the year, it's important to think about giving as much as gifting.
Why it matters: Community organizations are seeking volunteers and donors to help the most vulnerable members of our community.
State of play: The local Salvation Army division is looking for volunteers to serve hot meals and distribute food boxes for Thanksgiving, as well as other opportunities.
In Denver, volunteers will start preparing thousands of meals for transport at 4:30am Thanksgiving Day inside the Denver Harbor Light Center (2136 Champa St.)
In Aurora, crews begin packing food boxes for delivery to families in need at 6:30am Thursday inside the Distribution Center (11701 E. 33rd Ave.)
The intrigue: Other businesses across the metro area are making it easy to help.
At the Golden Mill, chef Jesus Silva will serve a free dinner as part of its annual Thanksgiving Community Table that starts at 11am on Nov. 27. Monetary donations are welcome.
Meanwhile, ViewHouse is collecting unwrapped toys at all its locations in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of metro Denver. Donors receive a free drink.
Hotel Clio in Cherry Creek North is partnering with Coats for Colorado and collecting new and gently used items through Nov. 29.
The bottom line: No matter how you give back this season, your thoughtful and generous efforts bring joy to the community.
