Colorado's top trending puppy name this year is Fox, while Ranger tops the kitten category, according to Rover's 2025 report released Tuesday.
The big picture: The names reflect a broader regional trend sweeping the West, where pet owners are "leaning into a Wild West, rugged outdoors theme," the report notes.
Zoom in: Among the top five names for older pets in Denver, Charlie took the No. 1 spot for dogs, while Luna led for cats.
Luna was the only name to appear on both lists.
The fastest-rising names this year in the Mile High City:
Dogs: Kilo, Levi and Darla
Cats: Phineas, Kiwi and Honey
The intrigue: Denver's dog parents drew inspiration from Norse mythology — Thor, Odin, Loki and Freya all cracked the up-and-coming list.
Meanwhile, local cat owners seem to prefer cartoon icons, with Phineas, Bagheera, Sylvester and Casper also trending.
