Brockmeyer's in Lakewood is doing something few bagel shops have dared: turning pretzels into breakfast.
The big picture: This neighborhood cafe specializes in hand-rolled pretzel bagels — a hybrid baked good with a golden-brown crust, signature chew and just the right hit of salt.
Flavors range from everything and sesame to hatch chile cheese and pumpernickel.
Zoom in: Beyond the bagels, Brockmeyer's bakes Bavarian-style pretzels, cinnamon rolls and buttery croissants with a pretzel-like finish. Pretzel-wrapped bratwurst is on the menu, too.
There's also a full bar pouring craft beers — and a sunny patio to sip them.
If you go: Get the double egg, double cheese sandwich on an everything bagel ($12.49). It's melty, fluffy, salty goodness.
If you're a cream cheese diehard, don't skip their housemade shmear.
