Denver's newest live music spot: A highway underpass

Denver's newest live music space is set to become the loudest, high-energy outdoor venue in the city.

The vibe: The "Project 70" pop-up venue is situated beneath the interstate, between the National Western Center and the Denver Coliseum, at 4600 Humboldt St.

• The location is a free-for-all compared to other outdoor venues, such as Red Rocks, with higher decibel limits, room for mosh pits and later curfews, organizers say.
• It's also a bit larger with a 10,000-person capacity, all general admission.

The latest: It's a fitting location for the first bands to take the new stage.

• The Sept. 30 show features headliner Turnstile with Mannequin Pussy, SPEED and Jane Remover.
• The second show on Oct. 4 features Chase and Status with special guests PEEKABOO, Eprom, Mozey, Cesco and Flava D.

What they're saying: "Turnstile needs a fully GA (general admission) flat-ground area where people can go crazy, and that's not Red Rocks. People will get hurt if there's a mosh at Red Rocks," Evan Marks, a talent buyer at AEG, told Rocky Mountain PBS.

• "The decibel limits and the curfew are a couple things that are kind of fun for a site like this," he added.
