Altitude Sports returns to Xfinity, ending blackout

Regional sports network Altitude Sports reached an agreement with Comcast to broadcast Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets games on the cable network, the two companies announced Tuesday.

Why it matters: The announcement ends a nearly six-year blackout for local fans, who couldn't watch the two championship-level teams on metro Denver's primary cable provider over a contract dispute that started in 2019.

What we're watching: The agreement kicks off with the broadcast of the Avs game Tuesday night as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at 8pm.

Fans will be able to watch all games airing on the network moving forward, including Wednesday's matchup between the Nuggets and the New Orleans Pelicans at 7pm at Ball Arena.

What they're saying: "This is the best possible outcome for Nuggets Nation and Avs faithful," KSE vice chair Josh Kroenke said in a statement.

Between the lines: The move won't affect KSE's agreement to air some Avs and Nuggets games for free on local stations, per Tuesday's announcement.
