How to get a low-cost tree in Denver

Zoom out: The program has provided more than 65,000 trees to residents over the past 40 years, per a release from the nonprofit.

• It plans to offer over 1,400 trees this spring.

How it works: You can apply online or call 303-722-6262 for a paper application.

• Residents, businesses, nonprofits and schools are eligible.

By the numbers: Trees are $35 for most Denverites.

• People living in low-tree canopy neighborhoods like Barnum, Globeville and Montbello can get trees for $10 — (see full list of eligible neighborhoods).
• People with financial hardships can also apply for a free tree.

What's next: The application deadline is Feb. 15, or until supplies last.

• Tree pickups and planting take place from April 24-26.
