The cost of campaign advertising in Colorado's congressional races is approaching $50 million for the general election, an exclusive Axios Denver analysis shows.
State of play: Democratic candidates and political allies continue to dominate spending on the airwaves and digital spaces — nearly doubling that of Republican committees since the June 25 primary, according to AdImpact tracking data through Monday.
The 8th Congressional District contest is the most expensive, at roughly $36 million, with the bulk — about $33 million — coming since Sept. 1 when the campaigns began in earnest.
The intrigue: In the two weeks before Nov. 5, the GOP began to spend more in the 8th District to close the gap and boost candidate Gabe Evans, a state lawmaker, but Democrats are still investing more in the race to reelect U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo, the data shows.
