Evans expresses support for repealing ACA in 8th District debate

Health care: Evans, a state lawmaker, came under attack for his positions on health care. 

• He expressed support for repealing the Affordable Care Act, saying it didn't do enough to stem rising costs. "We have to go back to making sure we are making health care actually affordable," he said.
• Caraveo, a pediatrician, blasted him for opposing a state law to cap the cost of epinephrine auto-injectors (known as epi pens) at $60 for a two pack. Evans said the free market should control drug costs.

Immigration: Both candidates are children of migrants and sputtered on the how to handle newcomers arriving in the country illegally.

• Caraveo made clear she no longer supports defunding the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency despite her previous vote to do so. 
• Evans, who appeared at an Aurora rally for former President Trump where Trump announced a mass deportation plan, again refused to say whether he supports the plan. Instead, he said deportations should start with immigrants with criminal charges.

Voting records: Both candidates highlighted their bipartisan voting records.

• Caraveo is ranked as the eighth most bipartisan first-year lawmaker by the Lugar Center and noted she had bipartisan legislation signed into law by President Biden.
• Evans noted that he passed about 60% of his legislation in the Colorado House, despite being in the super-minority with Democrats dominating the chamber.
