How it works: Issue 2Q increases the local sales tax by 0.34% — 3.4 cents on a $10 purchase — to raise about $70 million annually for health care including emergency, mental, pediatric and primary care.

Threat level: Denver Health CEO Donna Lynne warned earlier this year the measure's failure would be "catastrophic" and result in service cuts.

What they're saying: Mayor Mike Johnston supports the measure, while the liberal Working Families Party also endorses it.

The other side: Though no organized opposition campaign exists, the conservative editorial board at the Denver Gazette says the measure is "bailing out" the hospital.
