Three dozen Colorado breweries and cider makers took home coveted medals at the Great American Beer Festival competition Saturday.
Why it matters: The competition, hosted by the Boulder-based Brewers Association, is one of the most prestigious in the nation and a benchmark for good breweries.
By the numbers: Out of the 41 total medals, seven received multiple awards and six were first-time winners.
- 15 beers medaled in first place for their respective categories.
What they're saying: "GABF continues to prove that we are the State of Craft Beer, with breweries old and new winning medals in such a diverse array of categories," Colorado Brewers Guild executive director Shawnee Adelson said in a statement.
The big picture: The competition featured 8,836 entries in more than 100 categories from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
