Spooky season arrives with some real-life unease β an unusually warm October β but that won't stop us from enjoying some classic fall fun.
What's happening: We've rounded up the best pumpkin patches, haunted houses and other seasonal celebrations to enjoy this month.
π Calaveras Masquerade Ball: While Dia de los Muertos is not related to Halloween, this event commemorates an exhibit featuring 30 Chicano and Latinx artists with a Masquerade Ball on Oct. 25. People are encouraged to dress up β as the living or dead β for a costume contest. ($35)
π Chatfield Farms: Sunday is the last day of the farm's Pumpkin Festival, which lets you meander around the 10-acre pumpkin patch to find a perfect Jack-o'-Lantern. Buy tickets ahead and bring a small wagon to haul pumpkins. ($18 for adults, $12 for children)
π§ Fall into Fun: This family-friendly festival outside Aurora's City Hall on Oct. 19 will feature live entertainment, food trucks, vendors and a children's play area.. (Free)
π½ Maize in the City: A 20-acre corn maze awaits the adventurous at this Thornton hangout, which also includes a mini-maze that takes about 20 minutes, a pumpkin field, playgrounds and other kid-friendly activities. (Maize tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children)
π§ββοΈ 13th Floor Haunted House: If you're a thrill-seeker hoping to live out the plot of your favorite scary movie, then this top-rated fear-inducing experience should be high on your list. Escape games, ax-throwing and a full bar are also available if you don't enjoy jump scares. (Tickets start at $24.99)
