Colorado students report more concerns to Safe2Tell hotline than ever before

• The tool, created as a violence intervention and prevention program, allows anyone to anonymously report potential safety threats by phone, text or on its app.

• Safe2Tell director Stacey Jenkins in the statement said the rise in reports shows people are trying to create a "safer environment" for students.

Zoom in: Last month saw 738 reports — a 50% jump from July 2023 — with suicide (130), cyber-bullying (38) and welfare checks (36) as the top cited reasons for calls.

Between the lines: 94.8% of all reports last year were deemed credible, with false and misused reports making up the remainder of tips.
