Meet the candidates: First-time candidate Calvarese is a communications consultant who lives in Highlands Ranch. She worked for the AFL-CIO and as an intern for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

• Padora is an engineer and environmental scientist and addiction recovery advocate who suffered opioid abuse and spent time in county prison. He lost a bid for the Pennsylvania state legislature in 2020 and recently moved to Severance.
• McCorkle, a former Marine who lives in Parker, is making his third consecutive bid for the 4th District after losing by a wide margin to Buck in 2020 and 2022.

Zoom in: All three candidates support a single-payer health care system and a crackdown on gun violence.

• Calvarese, however, is voicing a more moderate approach on guns, saying she doesn't support a ban on semi-automatic weapons, the Colorado Sun reports.

• The issue of the Israel-Hamas war also splits the candidates. Padora would not support more military support for Israel until the country stops killing civilians.
• McCorkle argues he's the candidate who can win over conservative voters because he's run before and traveled into rural communities to bring people together.
