The pandemic brought the importance of home to the forefront, and Denverites have been paying closer attention to their environments ever since, organizing pros say.

Why it matters: A clear home can lead to a clear mind!

  • Home is "a place that's within your control, in a world that sometimes feels out of control," Lauren Greenwood, founder of home organization brand YouCopia, tells Axios.

What they're saying: "Our brains work overtime without us knowing. When we come home from work, the last thing we want to do is to decide where things should go," local organizing expert Melissa Adams says.

Her tips for tackling your next home organization project:

Be realistic with your time. These projects take twice as long as you think, so if you're in a crunch, start small — say a bathroom drawer or two.

📱 Get off social media. You don't need to buy matching bins and special gadgets for a tidier home.

🤔 Get curious about your own habits. For instance, if you want to break the pattern of dumping your stuff on the floor, hang some hooks by the door for an easy swap.

Pro tip: If you find yourself stressed or struggling to get started, Greenwood recommends taking a vacation day to tackle those nagging projects.

  • Happiness researcher Gretchen Rubin calls it a "loose-ends day." You'll feel much better after you purge your closet or recycle those empty Amazon boxes.

What's next: 2024 is all about concealing the chaos, Greenwood says.

  • Experts predict modular organization systems will be especially popular as consumers want DIY solutions for customizing their homes' bonus spaces, according to consumer research group Freedonia.
