Nuggets wrap up No. 2 seed in the West as title defense takes center stage

It's title defense time for the Denver Nuggets, who secured the No. 2 seed in the West after finishing the season with a 57-25 record.

Why it matters: While the path to the NBA Finals won't run through Ball Arena, the Nuggets are guaranteed home-court advantage through the first two rounds of the playoffs.

State of play: Denver's first-round opponent will be decided Tuesday night as the winner of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans will be the 7th seed in the West.

Yes, but: Before we get there, here are five numbers that defined the Nuggets' season:

57: Tied the franchise record for most wins in a single season since joining the NBA. The mark was first set in 2012-13.

6: The Nuggets' longest winning streak of the season which they accomplished twice.

33: Wins at Ball Arena. Denver finished the year tied for the second-best home record in the association.

5-1: The Nuggets' combined record versus the Lakers and Pelicans, one of which they'll face in the first round of the playoffs. Denver has won their past seven against the Lakers.

5: Center Nikola Jokić led the team in five major statistical categories: Minutes, points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. (Shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is tied for the team lead in steals.)
