How to celebrate Women's History Month in Colorado

March marks the start of Women's History Month, which celebrates women's contributions to society, culture, politics and beyond.

Zoom in: Here are five local ways to commemorate the occasion:

  • The Center for Colorado Women's History in Denver will host a free guided tour on March 8, and invites people to don vintage props for photos and view stories in its History Lab. Tours are available from 10am to 3pm.
  • The annual Women's History Month gallery by Babe Walls will showcase work from women and nonbinary people, starting with an opening reception March 9 at the Ryan Joseph Gallery at 2647 West 38th Ave.
  • Denver's Public Art department has a self-guided tour guide featuring 39 murals, statues and other works from women artists across the city
  • The Denver Public Library will host a free candle-making class on March 8 at Hadley Branch Library located at 1890 S. Grove St.
  • The University of Colorado Denver is hosting the "Feminist State of the Union" at the Auraria Campus on March 13 along with New Era Colorado to discuss the current political climate. Food and beverages will be provided.
