The beaver is en route.

What's happening: Buc-ee's β€” the colossal, cult-followed Texas-based gas station and travel center β€” will debut its first Colorado location on March 18.

What to know: Doors will open to the public at 6am that Monday at the Johnstown location, at 5201 Nugget Road.

  • A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11am, with local and state leaders attending the celebration.

What to watch: If openings of other Buc-ee's locations are any indication, expect die-hard fans to start lining up outside the doors days in advance, Buc-ee's general counsel Jeff Nadalo recently told us.

By the numbers: The 74,000-square-foot space will feature 116 filling stations and 12 electric vehicle charging stations.

  • It will generate more than 200 full-time jobs, the company says.

What they're saying: "At the foothills of the beautiful Northern Front Range, this Buc-ee's will introduce all sorts of bikers, hikers, skiers, and campers to the cleanest restrooms, friendliest staff, and freshest food they'll ever find on a road trip," Stan Beard, the chain's director of real estate, said in a statement.

We also asked Axios Dallas colleagues to share some insight into why people love it so much:

  • Tasha Tsiaperas says the merchandise is great, the gas pumps are plentiful and well-lit, the food is good for a gas station, and it feels safe stopping there at night when traveling alone.

The other side: Not everyone of our Texas-based colleagues is a big fan of the buck toothed beaver.

  • "I actually have no idea why Buc-ee's is so popular," said Asher Price from Axios Austin.
  • Megan Stringer of Axios San Antonio says she finds the place a bit overwhelming and says traffic sometimes backs up pretty far to get into them.
