We love a silly holiday, and none more than National Dog Day on Thursday.

Why it matters: Denver's a dog town — they even outnumber humans here.

What's happening: To celebrate, we put together three ideas you — and your pooch — will enjoy.

  1. Sniff out Denver's first dog treat food truck, Bone Apétreat. The truck will visit Brighton, Littleton and Union Station's Yappy Hour in Denver.
  2. Drink a pint at Denver's most dog-friendly brewery, Bruz Beers. The Midtown location of this Belgian-focused brewery is located next to a restaurant that serves dog food bowls.
  3. Let them run free at the Cherry Creek Dog Park. It's a 107-acre paradise for dogs, with trails and a creek. Or try the Chatfield off-leash park on the west side.
