What's in the new Cleveland Public Library union contract

What they're saying: "This contract is a testament to the strength, determination and solidarity of our members," said Becky Williams, president of SEIU District 1199, in a statement.

• "Our bargaining team worked tirelessly, and our members stood together through every challenge, showing what is possible when library workers have a collective voice and are willing to fight for one another."

By the numbers: The contract includes 15% average wage increases over the span of the agreement and an initial 5% pay bump, retroactive to January 2026.

• Employees will also receive a "ratification bonus" — $500 for full-timers and $250 for part-timers.

Zoom in: The contract also includes, for the first time, four weeks of paid parental leave, plus expanded bereavement leave and faster vacation accruals.

Also, employees can expect advance notice of work schedules and greater access to internal job opportunties.
