Local train enthusiasts get another chance to glimpse Big Boy No. 4014 — the world's largest operating steam locomotive — when it stops in Rocky River Monday on the return leg of its coast-to-coast tour.
Catch up quick: Twenty-five Big Boy engines were built during World War II to haul heavy freight over the Wasatch Mountains between Utah and Wyoming on the Union Pacific Railroad.
Eight survive today, but No. 4014 is the only one still in operation.
Driving the news: The train has traveled the country to commemorate the country's 250th anniversary.
Stop by: It will stop in Rocky River at the former Rocky River Nickel Plate train station located at 19060 Depot St.

💭 Sam's thought bubble: I captured a few pictures of the Big Boy in motion as it passed through Cleveland's west side last month.
There's an old-school majesty — the hissing steam, the actual choo choo! — that brings a twinkle to one's eye.
