Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Wu-Tang Clan headline Rock Hall's 2026 class

Driving the news: Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Oasis and Wu-Tang Clan lead this year's crop of inductees, revealed on Monday night's episode of "American Idol."

• Joining them in the performer category are Billy Idol, Joy Divison/New Order, Sade and Luther Vandross.

The intrigue: This year's ceremony will return to the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 14, but will not air live, as in previous years.

• The inductions will be pre-taped and air on ABC and Disney+ in December.

Between the lines: In addition to the eight performer inductees, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons will be honored with the Early Influence Award.

• Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin are the musical excellence honorees.

• Ed Sullivan is the recipient of this year's Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The other side: Among the nominees who missed out on induction are Fan Vote winner New Edition, The Black Crowes, Pink and Mariah Carey.

• A taped ceremony that can air a shorter version of what could be a six-hour ceremony is probably best for everyone.
