Blossom Music Festival returns with Idina Menzel and film favorites

• The Broadway legend starred in the original productions of musicals "Wicked" and "Rent," and voices Elsa in Disney's "Frozen" franchise.

The intrigue: The festival features over a dozen concerts over two months, beginning with the orchestra's "America at 250" show on July 3.

• Other performances include the music from "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (July 11-12), "The Voices that Changed Music" concert featuring songs by Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and others (Aug. 8), and a tribute to John Williams (Sept. 4-6).
• The orchestra will also perform works from a variety of composers, including Robert Schumann (Aug. 1), Sergei Prokofiev (Aug. 15) and Maurice Ravel (Aug. 22).

Between the lines: The orchestra also announced its lineup of summer concerts at the Severance Music Center.

• Things kick off July 16 with classical pianist Garrick Ohlsson and conclude Aug. 27 with orchestra music director Franz Welser-Möst — in his 25th and final season — leading a performance of Richard Strauss' "Symphonia Domestica."
