👋 Sam here. The best thing I did this week was get a Christmas tree from Londrico's on Granger Road.
Why it matters: Decorating a tree while jamming to holiday tunes and reminiscing over a lifetime of ornaments is one of my favorite yuletide traditions.
Yes, but: Christmas trees, like so many other products these days, have gotten outrageously expensive.
- Going to someplace like Home Depot is efficient, but utterly without magic. Venturing to an exurban tree farm is a daylong activity.
State of play: Londrico's was the perfect compromise, an old-school, family-run tree lot that brought back memories of my childhood.
- It's conveniently located off I-77 and boasts an enormous selection for homes and budgets of every size.
🎅🏻 The best part? Concierge service. A staffer named Jeremy greeted my wife and I as we arrived and helped us find exactly what we were looking for.
- He trimmed and baled our modest Fraser fir and then expertly secured it to the roof of our car.
By the numbers: You can find high-quality trees in the $50-$70 range — a bargain, these days — and smaller options for as low as $20.
