Cavs Corner, Week 7: The storm before the calm

• Saturday's loss to the Warriors, on the second night of a back-to-back, featured some of the ugliest basketball you can expect to see all season.

🤔 What we're wondering: Can anyone on this team not named Donovan Mitchell make a shot?

The big picture: The Knicks have joined the Pistons at the top of the Eastern Conference, but the standings are bunched up.

• The Cavs will have to pounce on a soft schedule over the next two weeks to make up ground.

🐺 Weekly winner: Dean Wade. The lockdown perimeter defender delivered a complete performance in the victory over the Spurs on Friday.

• He was part of the spark-plug bench unit that resuscitated the team's energy in the third quarter and put the game away.

Stat du jour: The Cavs scored a franchise-record 80 points in the paint against the Spurs.

• But the interior attack was a sharp departure. As of Tuesday, the Cavs were taking 44 three-point attempts per game, the most in the NBA. But they ranked 22nd out of 30 teams in three-point percentage.

What's next: Six games against some of the worst teams in the league, including Friday at Washington and Sunday vs. Charlotte.
