City Slice Pizzeria closes its flagship shop on Lorain

City Slice Pizzeria abruptly shuttered this past weekend its popular Lorain Avenue shop, a west side storefront known for grab-and-go "mega" slices of 40-inch New York–style pies.

Catch up quick: Founder Vanessa Reyes opened City Slice in 2022 and quickly built a loyal following of pizza lovers who enjoyed both jumbo slices and the festive, arcade game atmosphere for in-person dining.

State of play: City Slice will now operate solely out of its newer St. Clair–Superior location (6217 St. Clair Ave.), which offers the same giant slices plus an expanded menu made possible by a larger kitchen.

What they're saying: Reyes told Cleveland Scene that the closure hit her hard, noting the Lorain location was where the business was built.

But she framed the development as "leveling up," with delivery service launching soon.
