Visible Voice Books is turning the page — and opening a bold new chapter in Ohio City.
State of play: After nearly two decades in Tremont, owner David Ferrante has relocated the bookstore to the former Lorain Theater at 4601 Lorain Ave., transforming the 1920s building into a 6,000-square-foot temple to books and community.
Flashback: Visible Voice's most recent location was a second-floor haunt above Crust Pizza on Professor Avenue.
The big picture: The move marks a major upgrade for Visible Voice and joins a cluster of new creative businesses extending Ohio City's retail corridor westward along Lorain.
Zoom in: The redeveloped space blends restored historic details — murals, a mezzanine, and a revived stage — with modern design and amenities.
- The shop now spans two floors and features roughly 15,000 titles, triple its previous stock.
- A full café and bar serve coffee, sandwiches and alcohol, with a stage for live music, readings and community events.
- The second floor houses children's books, magazines and tables for groups and comfortable cushioned seats beneath warm lights.
