Scariest haunted houses in Northeast Ohio to visit this Halloween season

Halloween is just over a month away, but you don't have to wait until then to get scared out of your wits.
Why it matters: Northeast Ohio boasts more than two dozen haunted houses and attractions, ranging from family-friendly to absolutely terrifying.
📋 This list features the scariest of the scary that will have you battling nightmares through early November (assuming you're into that sort of thing):
The intrigue: As the title suggests, you get seven unique levels of scares, including a swamp, an asylum, a wormhole, a haunted mansion and more.
When: Now through Nov. 1.
- 7-11pm Fridays and Saturdays.
Where: 19201 E. Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights.
Cost: Tickets start at $12.65 (including fees).
The intrigue: Horror improv group Legion of Terror brings the frights with proceeds benefiting several Ohio charities.
When: Now through Nov. 1.
- 8pm-midnight, Fridays and Saturdays.
- 8-10 pm, Sundays.
Where: 1010 Towpath Road, Broadview Heights.
Cost: Tickets start at $20.
🔪 Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse
The intrigue: The 70,000-square-foot haunted house carves up the cool backstory of Karver Meats, which "opened" in 1948 but closed after employees began mysteriously disappearing.
When: Saturday through Nov. 8.
- 7:30pm to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays.
Where: 5665 Chippewa Road, Chippewa Lake.
Cost: Tickets start at $30.
The intrigue: The creators of Chippewa Lake Slaughterhouse teamed up for a haunted house on Brookpark Road that features Hollywood-level costumes, making you feel like you're in an episode of "The Last of Us."
When: Now through Nov. 8.
When: 7-10pm, this Friday and Saturday; 7pm-midnight Fridays and Saturdays starting Oct. 3.

Details: Experience a spooky hayride, walking trail and haunted house across 58 acres in Medina.
When: Now through Nov. 1.
Where: 1662 Medina Road, Medina.
Cost: Tickets start at $32.
The intrigue: The old Ohio State Reformatory is creepy any time of the year, but morphs into a haunted jail with twisted inmates, deformed prison guards and more.
When: Now through Nov. 2.
- Opens at 7pm, Fridays through Sundays (and select Thursdays in October).
Where: 100 Reformatory Road, Mansfield.
Cost: Tickets start at $35.
