👋 Sam here, checking in from Clark-Fulton, where I've just snapped a few pictures of the bus shelter unveiled last week across the street from MetroHealth's Glick Center.
Why it matters: It's both a functional bus shelter and an art installation, titled "La Distancia / The Distance," from Chicago-based Puerto Rican artist Edra Soto.
Zoom in: Constructed from cast concrete, Soto's piece is inspired by bus shelters commonly seen in Puerto Rico and features four-point star motifs that often appear on working-class homes there.
It's meant to evoke themes of migration, identity, and belonging while honoring the cultural histories of Cleveland's Puerto Rican and Latino residents.

🚏 Take a load off and contemplate these themes while waiting for RTA's #18 bus, which runs from West Blvd. in Cleveland to Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights.
