👋 Sam here. The best thing I ate this week were the papas bravas at Amazonia.
State of play: My wife and I ventured to the vibey, expedition-themed Lakewood cocktail bar for a friend's birthday celebration over the weekend.
Dig in: The spicy fried potato dish ($18) appears on a rotating menu of festive mixed drinks, pizzas and small plates.
It's a decadent, cheesy skillet with chorizo in hot-dog form sliced across the top. Perfect for sharing with a table.
🧠 Be smart: Pizzas ($18-$26) are half-off on Tuesdays. Salads and small plates ($12-$18) are $10 on Wednesdays.
Stop by: Amazonia can be a head-scratcher for Uber drivers and first-time guests due to what food critic Doug Trattner called its "byzantine method of ingress."
It's located in the house behind Hola Tacos on Madison Avenue and can be accessed by walking through Hola or via a side gate on Hopkins Avenue.
