Is it socially acceptable to deposit bagged dog poop in a stranger's trash can?
(Specifically the black, 96-gallon trash carts provided by the city of Cleveland for weekly pickup?)
Why I'm asking: I was yelled at last week by someone who interpreted my doing so as a grave (and perhaps criminal) breach.
This was their trash can, they communicated to me. I was essentially trespassing upon private property.
๐ My take: Yikes! I would have laughed if this person wasn't so bent out of shape about the whole thing.
Setting aside the fact that these carts are the property of the city, not individual households, my feeling is that throwing trash in trash cans is good.
Between the lines: I generally throw away dog poop in public city receptacles โย which, for the record, tend to be overflowing with poop bags already, at least on the near west side.
But on trash days, when the carts are out for pickup anyway, I see them as a viable alternative.
