Garden Valley Avenue remained closed to vehicular traffic Tuesday afternoon near the scene of Monday's explosion and fire.
The latest: The conflagration hospitalized five people, including two children, and displaced more than 40 residents in the Garden Valley apartment complex.
- The American Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for displaced residents at the nearby Zelma George Recreation Center.
- The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Cleveland Fire has estimated the total damage at $3.5 million.
- The parking lot adjacent to the apartment complex was under water on Tuesday, evidence of the enormous effort by firefighters to control the blaze.
Per Cleveland Fire, more than 60 firefighters responded Monday afternoon.
- On Tuesday morning, four turtles, two cats, a dog, and a lizard were all rescued alive.
