"I am concerned that there seems to be a move to completely standardize our schools when that is not the spirit of the Cleveland Plan. I think we will have many people in the community who are upset about that because they have passed levies and they have given support to the district based on the tenets of the Cleveland Plan."

CMSD is considering bringing all of its schools on an identical calendar to cut costs.
State of play: Cleveland public schools have operated on multiple calendars since the launch of the Cleveland Plan in 2012.
Most schools have conventional breaks in the summer and winter. Twenty-two schools have longer school years with shorter breaks. Others have longer school days.
By the numbers: CMSD estimates it could save nearly $10 million by moving all schools to the same calendar in the fall.
What's next: Changes could be proposed as early as the next board meeting on March 11.
