Staggering stat: The Cavs broke a slew of single-game franchise records in crushing the depleted Mavericks.

• Most points in a quarter (50); most points in a half (91); most threes in a game (26). It was a massacre.

State of play: The NBA trade deadline looms Thursday. Cavs president of basketball operations Koby Altman may try to maneuver on the margins to get team payroll under the league's tax threshold.

• But given Cleveland's spectacular success and camaraderie, he's unlikely to ship out any key rotation players.

Case in point: Max Strus held a charity event Monday attended by the entire team, despite a busy schedule this week.

The latest: As of Tuesday night, the Cavs were reportedly in talks with the Atlanta Hawks about forward De'Andre Hunter.

• Mitchell once again earned NBA Player of the Week honors for his lights-out shooting.

• In what could have been a blowout loss to the Celtics Tuesday, Mitchell almost single-handedly made it a close game by notching his third double-double of the season.

😢 Weekly loser: Evan Mobley, who scored only seven points and looked utterly lost against the Boston front court.
