Notice more spam calls coming through your phone last year? You're not alone, especially in Ohio.
The intrigue: The state ranked second in complaints filed to the National Do Not Call Registry last year, behind only Delaware.
- The registry received 849 complaints per 100,000 residents in Ohio in 2024. That's down from 949 complaints in 2023.
The big picture: There were more than 2 million complaints nationwide in 2024.
How it works: You can register your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry to prevent telemarketing calls.
- Consumers can report calls that do not comply "Do Not Call" regulations to the Federal Trade Commission.
- The FTC uses the complaints to enforce the laws and provides data to call-blocking solutions that identify phone numbers to block.
