The intrigue: Snow accumulation in most areas of Northeast Ohio has been in the low-to-mid single digits in recent days.
- That's nothing compared to historical extremes.
By the numbers: The single-day record for snowfall in Cuyahoga County was 17.4 inches on Nov. 10, 1913, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data.
- Summit County saw 19.7 inches on April 4, 1987. Lake County was hit with 21 inches on Nov. 24, 1950, while Lorain took on 16.5 inches a day later.
- Geauga County's record is more recent with 18.9 inches on Jan. 4, 2010. Medina and Portage Counties' both recorded 18 inches on the same day: Dec. 2, 1974.
Flashback: The record for the most snowfall in an Ohio county goes to Trumbull with 30 inches on April 20, 1901.
